Red velvet cake 🍰

Here's a classic recipe for Red Velvet Cake:

Ingredients:

For the cake:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups vegetable oil
  • 1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon white distilled vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the cream cheese frosting:

  • 16 ounces cream cheese, room temperature

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Guidelines:

Regarding the cake:

  1. Set the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C). Butter and dust two 9-inch circular cake pans.
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder in a medium-sized bowl.
  3. Combine the oil, buttermilk, eggs, food coloring, vinegar, and vanilla essence in a big basin and stir everything thoroughly.
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet components gradually and stir until smooth and well blended.
  5. Evenly divide the batter among the cake pans that have been prepared.
  6. A toothpick put into the center of the cakes should come out clean after 25 to 30 minutes of baking in a preheated oven.
  7. After taking the cakes out of the oven, give them ten minutes to cool in the pans. After that, move the cakes to a wire rack to finish cooling.

To make the cream cheese frosting,

  1.  whisk the cream cheese and butter together in a large bowl until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  2. One cup of powdered sugar at a time, gradually add it while beating thoroughly after each addition.
  3. Add vanilla essence and stir until creamy and smooth.

Assembly:

  1.  Arrange one layer of the cakes on a serving platter after they have fully cooled.
  2. Over the top of the initial layer, evenly spread a layer of cream cheese frosting.
  3. After putting the second cake layer on top, use the leftover cream cheese frosting to frost the cake's edges and top.
  4. You can use more frosting, sprinkles, or cake crumbs as decorations if you'd like.
  5. Before serving, place the cake in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the icing to solidify.

Enjoy your delicious homemade Red Velvet Cake!
