Angel Food Cake ๐Ÿฅž

Here's a straight forward recipe for Angel Food Cake:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
  • 12 large egg whites, at room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Guidelines :

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Make sure your oven rack is positioned in the lower third of the oven.

2. In a bowl, sift together the cake flour and 3/4 cup of sugar. Set aside.

3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites on medium speed until frothy.

4. Add the cream of tartar and salt to the egg whites. Continue beating until soft peaks form.

5. Gradually add the remaining 3/4 cup of sugar, about 1 tablespoon at a time, while continuing to beat the egg whites on medium-high speed. Beat until stiff peaks form and the mixture is glossy.

6. Gently fold in the sifted flour mixture in three additions, being careful not to deflate the egg whites.

7. Fold in the vanilla extract until evenly incorporated.

8. Carefully spoon the batter into an ungreased angel food cake pan, spreading it evenly.

9. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cake springs back when lightly touched.

10. Remove the cake from the oven and immediately invert the pan onto a cooling rack. Let the cake cool completely in the pan, upside down. This helps prevent the cake from collapsing.

11. Once completely cooled, run a knife around the edges of the pan to loosen the cake. Gently remove the cake from the pan.

12. Optional: Dust the top of the cake with powdered sugar before serving for a decorative touch.

Enjoy your light and fluffy Angel Food Cake!
