Coffee Cake 🥮

Here's a classic recipe for a delicious coffee cake:

Ingredients:

For the cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Streusel Topping:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

For the Glaze (optional):

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Guidelines:

  1. Set the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C). For easier removal, line a 9 x 9-inch baking pan with parchment paper or grease and flour it.
  2. To make the streusel topping, combine the flour, cinnamon, and brown sugar in a medium-sized bowl. Using a pastry cutter or fork, cut in the cold butter until the mixture is the consistency of coarse crumbs. Put aside.
  3. Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar in a sizable mixing basin until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  4. One egg at a time, add them, beating thoroughly after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and stir.
  5. Sift the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a separate basin.
  6. Add the dry components to the wet ingredients gradually, starting and finishing with the dry ingredients and alternating with the sour cream. Take care not to overmix; only mix until barely mixed.
  7. Evenly distribute half of the batter into the baking pan that has been prepared. Over the batter, distribute half of the streusel topping.
  8. Evenly distribute the leftover batter over the streusel layer using a spoon. Sprinkle the leftover streusel mixture on top.
  9. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, in a preheated oven.
  10. After letting the coffee cake cool in the pan for ten or so minutes, move it to a wire rack to finish cooling.
  11. If you'd like, make the glaze by blending the milk, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth. Over the coffee cake that has cooled, drizzle some glaze.
  12. Cut, arrange, and savor while sipping steaming coffee!

You can have this coffee cake for brunch, breakfast, or just as a delicious treat at any time of the day. Have fun
